The rope was made from the Silver Thatch Palm, a plant that grows abundantly in the Cayman Islands. This is the National Tree of the Cayman Islands. Its leaves are incredibly durable and resistant to salt water, which made "Cayman Thatch Rope" highly sought after by sailors and merchants throughout the Caribbean. Due to its strength and resistance to rotting in salt water, it was used for a variety of purposes, including fishing, sailing, and construction.

Shipbuilding: Seafarer
The anchor links in the design represent Cayman’s past as a shipbuilding center. Shipbuilding was a major industry in the Cayman Islands for centuries, and it helped to shape the island’s culture and identity.
